She was striking, young, smart as hell and ready to take on the world. She was fully in control of whatever she was supposed to be in control of. Not to be outdone, her passion for life was evident in the conviction to lead life on her terms.
However, I always thought she was incapable of love, except in its platonic sense, the one she felt and shared so deeply with her friends. I’d known her long enough to comprehend her passion and selflessness in friendship, but expecting the same zeal from her in a relationship was only a little better than hoping for Vodafone network in my kitchen.
Her verdict to proceed on the date with him was not particularly applauded by all. Well, if only ‘all’ and ‘none’ meant the same. ‘Married?!’ they enquired and ‘gosh!’d. He was separated after three years of wedlock, although yet to be divorced while she was just about legal to tie the knot.
Was it because it was forbidden? Was it the mind overpowering the heart? I can’t tell. Something about him however, almost orphic, drew her to him and so she went.
It was the big day. A classic black halter frock complimented by a thin line of glittery silver around her neck exuded the simplicity and panache she so easily carried. She wrapped herself in her mink coat and walked down the gravel path, as she had discussed with him earlier in the day. They were to meet at the seam, around the corner.
The black sedan arrived and the window rolled down revealing the most amiable and charming smile she’d ever seen. He stepped out and took her across to the passenger side, opening the door for her to step in. She obeyed graciously. It was finally happening, the date.

So you are familiar with the M&B's or the likes of Marian Keyes, I presume, from your style of writing.
A fine attempt. Writing blocks are guaranteed, but that shouldn't stop you. Keep going.
